【官网博客及新图片】模拟城市餐厅命名比赛赢家

Everyone can build a business in SimCity, but only one contest winner had a special chance to name one. Last year, we held a contest where we asked our fans to name a burger joint in the game, and lucky 13 year-old winner Kade Byrand from Wisconsin was fortunate enough to have his submission not only win, but also make it into the final game for everyone to see. His contest-winning contribution? Longtime Maxis fans and llama-lovers will surely appreciate it: Lazy Llama Lunch-In. Good one, Kade! We took some time to speak with him about the inspiration of his name and why he’s excited about SimCity’s release this March.






How did you come up with the name?

Creating the name was a multi-step process, but it was an easy one. I wanted to make a name that was different from the ones I saw in the contest already and I wanted one that paid homage to Maxis and previous SimCity titles. I also wanted it to be humorous. I decided it had to have the word “Llama” in it because all of Maxis’s games have references and jokes about llamas (plus llamas are awesome animals). So from then, I decided it should have the word “luncheon” in it because I thought the two words sounded cool together, and then I realized that I could have a pun if I changed the spelling. Then I felt it needed something more, so I decided I needed another word with an L in it. The very first word that came to mind was “Lazy” (wonder why?), and from that, the title was born.



What are you most excited for in the new SimCity?

I have been waiting for the new SimCity since I was six years old, so I’m extremely excited it’s finally in the works! I am very interested in the whole GlassBox Engine idea because it seems like it will be a lot of fun to mess around with. I've always liked to micromanage parts of my city and get down to the details. I am glad the game is adding the multi-city aspect because it will be nice to play the game with my friends. I also like the idea of the Global Market; I want to try to make sure my city is a lead technology producer. One of the things I’m most thrilled about is the Great Works idea. I’m hoping one of the Great Works will be a space elevator. That would be so cool. And finally I’m extremely interested in the city specialization because I've always liked to make technological havens in SimCity.

Thank you for creating another great game (I know it’s going to be great – come on, it’s Maxis!).

DAY ONE
Good day to you, people of the world! My name is Ross and I’m a balance designer here at Maxis. If you will allow it, I would like to share with you how I mayor. I will do so by building a city that is all about oil.
To begin, I chose a city that has a high amount of oil in the ground. As soon as I load my city up, I take some time to check out my oil deposits. Before I worry about where my citizens will live, I want to make sure that I have good access to the oil deposits, so I use some dirt roads to outline where my oil pumps will go. I’ll upgrade those to better roads later, but for now I just need something cheap so that I can plan out my city.第一天

DAY TWO
Well, howdy there y’all! (just getting into character). I’ve got my oil city up and running now. Right now, my oil business is pretty simple. My oil wells pull the oil out of the ground and their trucks deliver it to the trade depots. The oil is then picked up at the depot by a truck to ship to the global market for profit. As you can see, I’ve placed my oil wells and trade depots away from my residential, commercial, and industrial. I don’t want any traffic to get in the way of my oil trucks.

Welcome back! Things are going well in my oil city. With the addition of an Oil HQ, my oil business has begun to expand into an oil empire. I’ve started to max out my oil wells in order to maximize the amount of oil that I can pull out of the ground. Harvesting and selling more oil will allow me to upgrade my Oil HQ with modules that will allow me to place refineries and improve how I export.

DAY FOUR
With all that expansion I’ve been able to upgrade my Oil HQ. The first module that I placed is the refining division. That allows me to place oil refineries which can turn my crude oil into plastic or fuel, both of which usually sell for more than crude oil on the global market. So now my task is to convert over from selling oil to selling the more lucrative plastic and fuel.
I place my oil refineries close to my oil wells so that the trucks will have no problem delivering to them. Now I go ahead and add some plastic and fuel lots to my trade depots so that they can start collecting plastic and fuel and selling them to the global market. As I start getting more money I add expansion modules to my refineries to increase my manufacturing throughput. It’s important to remember to add garages to the refineries, too, because without more trucks to carry the goods, all that extra manufacturing power just fills up my refineries faster.

Another day, another upgrade on my Oil HQ. This time I added the commerce division. This will allow me to use the more fancy trade port instead of the trade depots. Not only do the trade port storage lots hold a lot more goods, but the trade port can be expanded with a train station or boat dock so that I won’t have to rely on global market trucks from the highway so much anymore. That’s great – now I won’t start pulling my hair out when there’s a traffic jam at the entrance to the highway and I’m running low on money.
I’ve done a great job of collecting, refining, and selling all this oil, but I’m not sure that anyone would want to live here if this was a real city. Let’s look at all the ground pollution that I’ve caused. Oh, golly – look at all the sick people, too. Maybe I should think about investing in some health care for all my Sims… Nah they can take care of themselves, right?

When I started working on SimCity, Will Wright had an observation for me. "Roads" he said, "Roads...are hard."
And oh, man, were they ever. What's more, they're fundamental.
In previous SimCity's, the grid controlled spacing and orientation. In the new one, that job is handled by roads. You use roads to structure your city, to space and orient your buildings, to set up transportation networks and to give it shape.
Pedestrians walk on roads, cars, trucks and service vehicles drive on them. Power is carried by them, sewage and water travel under them. Buildings are snapped and oriented to them. Roads are the connective tissue for your city.
First, some technical details.
Under the hood, SimCity's roads are a kind of curve called a Hermite Spline. The spline is how the road is represented in the underlying simulation. All the zoning, traffic lanes, road geometry, terrain modification and the rest is built on top of the spline.

The spline is a full 3D object, so you can have layers of roads on top of each other.

When you're drawing a road, you're really creating a spline network, and when you intersect the roads, you're actually reticulating splines (dividing them into a net or network). Seriously.

You have a bunch of different options for drawing roads. There's a tool for making straight roads that go from point A to point B. There's another tool for making rectangular road squares. Another tool lets you make sweeping arcs, another one lets you make circles. And my favorite is the curvy road tool which lets you draw out freeform wiggling roads.
When you're drawing roads, you can hold down the shift key to constrain them, so that intersections will be perpendicular, or that the square road tool draws perfect squares instead of rectangles.

There are different sorts of roads, too - going from dirt roads up to six-lane avenues with streetcar tracks.
Different roads support buildings of different densities. Dirt roads will only ever develop low-density buildings, while high-density streets or avenues are capable of developing skyscrapers.

Roads come in different widths - there are the 24 meter wide streets and the 48 meter wide avenues. The avenues can carry more traffic.
You can upgrade streets too, so you might lay out your city with dirt roads and eventually turn them all into high density streets.
Going from streets to avenues takes a full demolish and rebuild, though.
When they intersect, the higher capacity roads have right-of-way over the lower capacity ones, stoplights and stop signs are automatically placed accordingly. Keep that in mind as you design your cities.

It's important to know how far to space your roads so that there will be enough room for buildings to develop. For that, you can turn on road guides. The guides appear when you hover over an existing road for a moment.

You can follow them so that your new roads will be optimally spaced.

You can temporarily toggle the guides on or off by holding down the Alt key while you're using the road tool.
Different roads support different density buildings, so the guide distance changes appropriately.

Roads will try and fit the terrain that they're on. If you're doing a road draw that requires a tunnel, you'll automatically get a tunnel.

If both a roadcut and a tunnel are called for, like with this terrain:

Then you’ll get both:

If you're doing a draw that needs a bridge, you'll get a bridge.

But if a road can work with just a roadcut, then that’s all that it will do. It’s cheaper.

You can snake roads up the sides of steep hills.

Or just climb it with roadcuts, bridges and retaining walls.

Roads will automatically make bridges when they cross water. If your bridge happens to pass a navigation channel, it will arch upward to allow ships to pass underneath.
Each road type has its own associated bridges, which can have their capacities upgraded just like roads can.

You can also opt to upgrade your bridges with more attractive ones, if style is important to you.

純粹畫圓和畫曲,SC2013這工具真的比特大的完成度還高
特大的還要特別學習一段時間才能稍微上手...

不過都2013了還不能自己調道路高度這就減分了,當年這算是A列車系列的亮點之一吧,特大也是有了這個才多了很多風采...

至於地圖小這個硬傷,反正必定是圈錢計畫的一環了.......

Luckily, capturing screenshots (or videos) is super easy. For snapping screenshots, all you have to do is this:
  • Press “c” to capture a screenshot
  • You can find your screenshots in your user directory: C:\Users\[username]\Documents\SimCity\Pictures
  • To turn off the UI, click Options>Settings>Gameplay>Hide UI in Captured Videos and Screenshots
